tips & tricks to know:

  • A lot of places do take credit cards, so we use our card when we can to save our cash

  • We exchange cash into pesos as we go, we don’t do it all at once

  • There are safe banks to withdraw money from, so bring an ATM card to use if needed

  • Don’t carry all your cash on you, only grab what is needed for the day/night

  • Don’t use the hotel safe. Pretty shitty, but they aren’t safe. Instead hide cash in an empty deodorant stick or tampon box or something.

  • Bring plenty of $1’s & $5’s for tipping throughout our trip (remember to leave the hotel maids a dollar or two a day, we like to leave all our change we built up from the day before)

THE EXCHANGE RATE (AS OF TODAY JAN 4TH) IS 19 PESOS TO 1 USD.

RENT MOPEDS!

I don’t remember the cost, it was cheap, to rent these for a day. They’re fast & fun! We’ll chat with the guys who rent these when we get down there. We’ll have to wait until after we return the golf carts, as we’ll each need our driver’s license to give to rent these.

TAKE DOGS ON WALKS!

There is a dog rescue on the island called Isla Animals that loves when vacationers stop by to walk dogs! All the dogs are up for adoption and they LOVE it when people fly them back to the US to get adopted! So if you feel like flying a dog home, let me know! We did a couple of years ago and it was so easy. And free! And we got to skip the customs line when we arrived back into the US!
